Breakawave was founded in Australia in 2014 by Jonathan Baird, in collaboration with his co-founders and mentors John Graumans and Michelle Cullen. After working closely with John and Michelle through an entrepreneurial internship, Jonathan had a strong desire to break away from traditional one-to-one sales approaches.

Prior to launching Breakawave, Jonathan spent 8 years in sales and business development. He noticed that businesses invest a large percent of their budget in ‘prospecting’ new customers, resulting in a similar small conversion of ‘paying’ customers. Most time and energy spent ends up inundating people with marketing messages, most often for goods and services they don’t need.

Jonathan had always found introductions to be the best way to connect people to the right solutions. It was a rewarding aspect of the business and an area he wanted to expand on.

As a passionate surfer, Jonathan found many analogies between the ocean and business. Surfing waves creates a feeling of joy that translates to the joy of solving people’s challenges. It was during Jonathan’s mentoring with John and Michelle that a 'Breakawave' moment occurred. Why spend time speaking with people who ‘don't’ need your services when you can just focus on connecting people with what they ‘really’ need? It was at this moment that Breakawaves Connection Service was born.

The mission is to help businesses grow by focusing on people who need their goods or services. Breakawave has evolved over time, and today we provide our service as such:

1. Our Connection Service adds value by saving businesses and their customers time and money by connecting trusted solutions they need. Each successful request generates passive revenue, enabling businesses to expand their ability to earn revenue beyond their own goods & services.

2. We connect customers who request the services of a business. This enables businesses to leverage thousands of connections everyday across multiple networks. As fees are only paid on connection and success it allows a result based approach to customer acquisition.

3. We provide an opportunity for people to break away from the limits of traditional employment by joining our 12 month entrepreneurial program, backed with a freelance opportunity as a Business Connection Consultant. They can work from anywhere, anytime and even integrate with existing ventures.
